Preventing Phenoxy Herbicide Damage to Grape Vineyards

As bud break approaches, now is the time to educate your neighbors about the hazards of using phenoxy type herbicides near vineyards. Grape growers are keenly aware of the high sensitivity of grapevines to phenoxy herbicides, but other farmers and rural homeowners often are not aware of the danger. Use this new Extension publication to educate your neighbors about the types of herbicides within the phenoxy class and the degree of sensitivity of grapevines. “Preventing Phenoxy Herbicide Damage to Grape Vineyards” also discusses how phenoxy herbicides come in contact with grapevines, and describes and illustrates the symptoms of injury. Finally, it provides suggestions for reducing the risk of unintentionally damaging grapevines with weed control efforts.
